Jack Ohmes | Singing for Love, Sharing for Hope

Gilda's Club June 2, 2015

Twelve years ago, Angie Ohmes was diagnosed with colon cancer and almost died twice from the side effects of her 10-month chemotherapy treatment. Three years later, she faced an ovarian cancer scare.

Her oldest son, Jack, turned to music to help cope with his feelings and wrote the song Stay with Me for his mom. “The words I wrote are the thoughts I had as a kid,” Jack said. “I always hoped that I’d be able to share it because I knew other families living with cancer would be able to relate.”

On May 7 at the Imagine a Place Breakfast, Jack performed Stay for Me for his mom, Angie, in front of a ballroom full of guests. Now he is sharing his song with a wider audience through iTunes and GooglePlay giving all proceeds to Gilda’s Club Minnesota to ensure no one faces cancer alone.
