A Place for Adults

“Cancer isolated our family. How we longed to connect with people like us! Families may not need the medicine, but they absolutely need support.”

— Lori and Mark, North Saint Paul

A Circle of Care

When one person is diagnosed with cancer, the experience ripples throughout the circle of friends and family. Gilda’s Club trained professionals understand this. They understand the stress and anxiety cancer places on relationships and the importance of bringing individuals together in a safe, informative and welcoming environment: spouses and partners, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, friends and caregivers.

Our program gathers family and friends who can lend a hand and give practical support to the person living with cancer. The team identifies needed assistance and puts in place an action plan assigning family and friends meaningful tasks.

The program also helps families and friends concentrate on and explore emotional issues and dynamics, to express their hopes and fears, and to learn how to live with cancer. Special groups unite parents, spouses and caregivers, are specific to various types of cancers and to cancer-specific issues.

All of the adult offerings of support, education, social activities, and healthy lifestyle information originate largely from the needs of members. So you can be assured there’s a group, workshop, activity or event that speaks to you.

“It was a place to go where my boys and I were understood, where we felt like regular people. I actually felt like I could get away from my cancer at Gilda’s Club.”

—Derek, Chaska, attended Gilda’s Club in Texas when he lived there and was diagnosed with colon cancer
