The Latest From Gilda’s

LISTEN/ Stories of Cancer and Resilience

February 23, 2018

“The magic of Gilda’s Club is hard to communicate, I think this film does it in an amazingly beautiful and thoughtful way!” – John Sweeney, husband of Gilda’s Club Twin Cities co-founder Jenni Lilledahl

The LISTEN Project began as a dream. As Ali DeCamillis, Gilda’s Club Program Director, describes, “In my dream, I saw our members performing alongside a professional dance company with their stories being interpreted through movement, music and voice. And the audience was given entry into a sacred space and the reliance of people. When I woke, I knew this dream needed to become real. And knew that Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater (SPDT) could help bring it to life.”

In spring 2016, the project started as listening sessions where members could share their stories, followed by rehearsals and finally members performing with the SPDT company at the Lab Theater. Twin Cities PBS (TPT) was there to document the entire journey of this unique project and in partnership with Gilda’s Club Twin Cities, produced the powerful, new documentary, LISTEN/ Stories of Cancer and Resilience.
